The twentieth century brought on much of the world new frontiers, sometimes as strange as absurd. In northern India, hidden behind the Himalayas and trapped between Pakistan and China, Ladakh is trying to find his way between Buddhist tradition and Western modernity.

Last bastion of the vast area of Tibetan cultural influence before the Chinese invasion, the province of the Indian state of Jammu Kashmir is trying to retain on its high plateau the remains of a world on the threshold of the imagination.
